![]() |
Academic Food and Beverage ServiceThe Department is the largest in Kenya Utalii College, with capacity for up to 300 students. At inception in1976 at the Kenya Polytechnic, the department trained students of Service Basic, and Instructors courses. The latter was phased out after the first batch of 12 students graduated. The Food and Beverage Service advanced course was started in 1976 with candidates for the course being required to have served for a period of not fewer than two years. Due to the high demand for trained personnel in Food and Beverage service, the course intake for both Service Basic and Service Advanced courses was increased to two intakes in a year in May and October respectively. The department also offers courses for other students taking Hotel management, Front office operations, Housekeeping and Travel and Tourism Management. The Department was the first to launch the self-sponsored student programmes in the College in 2006.
